A New Year of Wonder and Faith
Blessings and peace upon those who rejoice; Healing and health upon those who find no joy; Wonder and faith in the new year.
What surprises will this year hold? Each new day brings its own mystery, but faith prepares us for whatever lies ahead. Even though the year number has changed, a day is still a day. I woke up the first day of the month of January with wonder on my mind. I felt the same as any other morning, but there was that little bit of mystery and wonder that usually starts my day and gives me some of my inspirations.
Last year was filled with thought-provoking and wonder-filled moments. I couldn’t help but wonder—what surprises will this year bring? I’ve never been a fan of surprises (I’ve had my share), especially those that caused pain or financial loss. But surprises will come—both good and bad—so we must prepare ourselves for both. Jesus gave us warnings to help us prepare for life’s battles. He said in John 16:33, “In the world ye shall have tribulation.” In Matthew, He mentions persecutions and temptations, while James asks the question: Where do the battles that war within you come from? His answer is clear: They come from the desires of your own mind (paraphrased).
Pondering Life with Wonder and Amazement
Sometimes the word wonder can be substituted with pondering, contemplation, or meditation and sometimes it can be substituted with amazement, bewilderment, or surprise. The words are asymptomatic until the mind kicks in a negative or positive reaction to the stimulus provided in the subject. Of course, the Bible is positive in the subject. Of course, the Bible is positive based and if we are filled with the truths and principles of the word of God we will judge in a positive manner. The Bible says, Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you, resist the devil (evil one or negative one) and he will flee from you.
There are many words that describe the process of fleeing in the scriptures and Faith is the most important one. Faith is not just in the mind that says I believe in God, but it is that deep seated conviction that says, “I know whom I have believed”, and “I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12) Another word that is used is Love, which is paired up with faith in verse thirteen of the same chapter in 2 Timothy, “Hold fast (embrace) the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.“
Trusting God for Miracles in the New Year
As I wonder and ponder, I am amazed at the way that God works in my life, as well as others. To me it is a miracle, but to him it is a small thing. I’m praying for miracles to happen this year, just like they did last year and the year before that and etc. With total faith I’ll trust in his Love. My prayer is not just for the spirit, soul and mind of each individual, but it is for the economic, social, political and spiritual winds of the world, that they will align themselves with the truth and that The Truth would be exalted as King. May God’s Will be done, Amen.
