One Small Seed Newsletter – Edition #283, November 2024
Greetings in Jesus’ name,
The Bible at times points out what is right and what is wrong. In spiritual terms right means “according to truth and Godly law” and wrong means the flipside, meaning, “in opposition to or refusal to be right”. With this in mind, who is right and who is wrong? This of course becomes a political battle in the natural environment and also in the spiritual environment, which appears worse everyday.
I realize I am only a seed planter, but the seeds I sow are from the Book that took many years to write and prove what is right and what is wrong. Our founding Fathers used it when establishing the laws of our country. They are tried and proven and the best foundation for a country to build upon. Even though there were some things in it that weren’t right, but were passable at the time of their founding and straighten out in the last two hundred years, it has become a more righteous approach to civil law. But it, in the process, became a little more progressive and a little less conservative.
Now, as a seed planter, the theme of my lesson is “Righteous” or what the Bible teaches that is right. Number 1 is in Psalms 1:1-2 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners (law breakers), nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth meditate day and night“.
In today’s environment I would be called far right simply because the left has moved further to the left. But they are correct, because as a God fearing person and learner. I am maturing in God’s Word and becoming less interested in natural things and more interested in the souls of people than of anything else. So to put this subject into perspective I use the Bible’s answer to the question; what does that mean? Very simply I use Jesus’ words in John 17:13-16 “…and now come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my Joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of this world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world even as I am not of the world”.
Some might say if He was not of the world then how could He say this when He was born into the world and lived in the world for thirty some years. The answer is: He was in a natural body which was only a natural temple for the Holy Spirit of the Father to dwell in, until his purpose was fulfilled. The same thing happens to a human and is doing the same thing that Jesus was being an example of. Our body is only a temple for the soul until the purpose of our soul is fulfilled. When Jesus was praying in John 17:13-16 He was talking to the Father and referring to the spiritual element of the disciples in a spiritual atmosphere. When he said they are in the world, he was talking about their natural dwelling place, but when he said they are not of the world He was referring to their spiritual mind, their spirit of life and their soul. All of these things were dedicated to Him and His will. Even though their body was connected to natural responsibilities, their primary object was to the River of Life, that flowed from God.
In our text, verse 1 started with, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly (this includes boys and girls and grown women also)”, then in verse 3 adds, “And he (they) shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”. Referring to Revelation 22:1-2 “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the lamb. In the middle of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations”. David’s statement was the beginning and John’s Revelation was the climax of the story, but these are the things that apply to the Right in God’s eyes.
Text extended; verse 4: The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”.
For a comparison, study the Biblical history of the Israeli nation. David was the second King of Israel but the first to be instated by God. Then his son Solomon became the third King and he was anointed by God because of his wisdom and because he was the offspring of David. The first King of Israel was appointed by the people in rejection of God’s will as David said in verse 1.
Only two of the tribes of Israel were on the Right side, so that left ten tribes on the wrong side. According to history the Right side ended up being a remnant which accepted Christ and later became the body of Christ. The rest of the tribes were scattered like chaff and were destroy by the Roman Empire.
Even though this analogy is true, the truth is about those that follow the teaching of God’s will for man and the one’s who want to choose not to follow the principles of right and wrong. Also, the reality that for every decision there is a consequence.
Righteousness as defined by the Bible is both a spiritual and practical pursuit. By grounding ourselves in God’s Word, meditating on His teachings, and living in alignment with His will, we become like trees planted by the rivers of water—bearing fruit and prospering in His timing. The choices we make, whether to follow the path of righteousness or reject it, carry eternal consequences. As seed planters, our duty is to sow truth, trust God for growth, and remain faithful to His purpose for our lives.
