In the spirit of Christmas, I invite you to join me in reflecting, through poetry on the ultimate expression of love—God’s gift to humanity.
Thy Word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.” (Psalms 119:160)
The Christmas Theme
Lord, how could you but justify
Or hear a wounded mortal cry,
If not by love within your hand,
By grace to give to heal the land?
And how could you just stand at length
Hold worlds and heavens by your strength
Let man then choose his dying fate
When his great theme’s procrastinate,
If not by love that grace assured,
Then by your patience long endured.
You bore the anguish and the pain
The constant badger of great strain.
The bland excuse, the alibis,
The self made rules, the torrid lies,
And yet by love, with no defeat,
Your vengeance rest on mercy’s seat.
You sent your word into the world
Abiding grace was then unfurled
The earth and sky were made anew
Your perfect will came into view
Man now was held without excuse
His grip of darkness now torn loose.
His hope was now, his fears were past
Eternal life had come at last,
And yet for love you stood afar.
Let man reject the morning star.
Let priest and scribe decry his name
Let Roman rule bring open shame
Then on a cross let his blood spill
To satisfy your purposed will
And then to cap this tale of doom
They sealed him in a borrowed tomb.
What clue have you that verified
The life that lived- the son that died?
What proof have you that love you gave
If he should stay inside a grave.
What chance could we, a mortal foe,
Glance once at life’s eternal glow
If life was all he ever gave
Our hope would too be in a grave.
Because of love he could not stay
As victor rose on the third day
The stone was rolled from off the door
The tomb lay empty as before.
His grave clothes lay as never worn
Because of love our proof was born
And with this birth man gained a place
To stand before the throne of grace.
The theme for Christmas is from John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only offspring”, to die to reconcile mankind back to himself. All he wants from us is to appreciate His gift and share this type of love and appreciation with other souls. That is why I share God’s love with you. I believe this is my duty to God and all his creation. He gave me gifts and a calling and a zeal to share, and he also gave me friends and a family who cares as much as I care, because they love our Lord.
From the family of One Small Seed, we send Blessings and hope that you have answers to your prayers and a Christmas miracle that will brighten up your days throughout the coming year.
Your friend in Christ,
Rodney
