One Small Seed Newsletter – Edition #249, January 2022
Greetings,
Another year has come upon us and as usual, the nights are longer than the days. I have decided to ignore the darkness as much as possible and concentrate on the light more. I have found that if I keep a positive attitude and avoid the darkness as much as possible it helps me a lot. One way to do this is to listen to scientists because they say that for a man of my age I should sleep at least eight or nine hours a day. Of course what is typical of some professionals, they don’t always mean what they say and we have to figure it out. For instance, when they say eight or nine hours a day they mean at night when it is dark. So, if I sleep eight or nine hours when it is dark, in the summer I would see very little darkness and in the winter I would only see five to eight hours of darkness. Of course this varies according to where you live. Light and darkness is a natural thing that can be adjusted to by our mindset.
For over fifty years I have been trying to pursue the duty of keeping the light burning by sharing as much truth as possible, according to my own ability. I say this only to affirm my relationship to my God and your God, because there is only one true God. This true God is Holy, he is a spirit and seeks such to worship him. He is a righteous God, he is faithful to his word and he is a loving God who proved that love by reconciling the souls of man back to himself through the death of his incarnate Word Jesus. The most exciting part of this story is the fact that Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.
Grace and Truth are the two things necessary for the salvation of the world. These two things were in God’s plan before he created man and were the two things that were missing in the whole story from the beginning up to Pentecost. These two things could not be revealed by anyone else, except Christ. He said that he came into the world to save sinners and by saying this he meant those who walked in darkness or ignorance. This is why John said he (Jesus) was the light of the world. The first step to salvation is to hear Truth, which is the light.
Grace and Truth walk hand in hand. They are like “doing” and “saying”: whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do it as unto the Lord. When God gave gifts unto the church they were either doing gifts or saying gifts, but it is important that both work together. Since Grace and Truth walk hand in hand one should never walk alone. Today we have that problem in the world. It’s either preach the facts without Grace or it’s be charitable and giving without considering the cost and consequences. God’s Grace and Truth aren’t given without the presence of wisdom and all three of these things are products of the Light.
One other thing I want to mention while on this subject is the fact that the light of God is speaking of that which feeds the spirit, soul, and mind of an individual. It is from these sources that our attitudes, feelings, emotions, and worship spring. This is why we need to have God’s light upon us and we should hunger and thirst after righteousness. Then when we receive God’s Holy Spirit in us (Christ in you the hope of glory- Colossians 1:27) all the things that I have said will make a greater impression upon your life.
May God’s love abound in your heart this year.
Your friend in Christ,
Rodney Roberts
