Greetings in Jesus’ name,
Sometimes we must pause and reflect on the sunny side of our life, because chaos only brings anger, anxiety, and pain. Sometimes we must push the off button and sit back and meditate on the lessons we have learned in life. Reflections lengthen our years and when we think that time is flying, we will realize how long it has been. I count my time by my accomplishments and my gains and losses, my mistakes and the consequences of those mistakes. The best way to count the time is by remembering things and the best way to do this is with pictures and journals, which will refresh our memory and recall.
I have found that in my life, I have learned by the things of the past. I wouldn’t have learned if I had forgotten these things, but now my vision has been broadened so that I’m not trapped in a political or religious snare. I am a Christian and as a Christian I know that I am governed by the teaching of God’s Word and that is the primary source of my understanding. I also know that God instilled into my soul his Holy Spirit of truth, so that there would be a witness to his Word. I’m not unique, because every Christian is filled with the presence of God if they love him. Remember it is Christ in us, the hope of Glory and Christ is the embodiment of the Godhead.
I’ve been thinking about the times that we now live in and I realize, because I have read the history books, that our times are only the repetition of other times in history. All of my life I have heard that history could and would repeat itself and now I know that is true. But why do we have to experience this? Because the same factors that caused the problems at the beginning are still present with us today. There is still God and the anti-God Devil and there is still man and the anti-God man. The weak still bow to the strong, the poor still bow to the rich and the meek still bow to aggression. The Bible says: Evil men (and women and children) and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. We now live in one of those times.
I started out with “and reflect on the sunny side of life…”, I’ll give you an example. I live in southern Ohio, four miles from the Ohio River and I have seen times when in December and January we might have ten days of sun and February and March weren’t any better. Since the days are shorter and the fog from the Rivers are heavy at times, it’s harder to see the sunny side of things. So, in order to overcome the negative thoughts, we take vitamin D and use our memory and knowledge to reflect on the days of July and August. It’s mowing grass twice a week, fighting the insects, looking for the air conditioner and all those sunny things. (“We” means my wife and I).
Sunny actually means to me, being able to communicate with our God, who communicates with me, communicating with my church family and my family and my friends. Sunny is having a wonder wife who helps me, being able to think and write, and living in a country that has good hospitals. I could go on, but I’m sure you get the picture.
As Jesus said, You are in the world, but not of the world, also be of good cheer I have overcome the world. God bless.
Your friend in Christ,
Rodney Roberts
