One Small Seed Newsletter – Edition #259, November 2022
Greetings with thanksgiving in my heart to be able to call God my father and you as my friend. I am glad we have Thanksgiving as a yearly holiday (like Easter and Christmas), but the key that opens the door to this holiday is more than one day of thanksgiving. In fact, my prayers always begin with, God I thank you and they are every day, not just one day a year. I am compelled by the blessings he has bestowed upon me and my family to constantly thank him. I owe my life to him, both physically and spiritually and this motivates my whole being to stay in fellowship with him.
I like what the writer in Psalms 105 and 107 said in a plea to all people. “O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name (his essence): make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord, and his strength; seek his face evermore. Remember his marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;… O that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men”.
I have just given the recipe for redeeming our country and saving it from destruction. To say, I’m leaving that in God’s hands, will not help unless I say, my hands are God’s hands. To pray for him to help is only right if I become a helper in the cause. As Jesus said while on the cross, “Father into thy hands I commend my spirit, “This is the attitude I must maintain. Then, that spirit is the filter that everything I say and do must go through. As I stand upon the precipice of getting older I realize the dreams of youth are quickly fading away and I must depend upon those things that I have stored in my heart. They are things that I put a greater value on and I am gradually learning to lean on more everyday. One of those things is the presence of God’s Holy Spirit and another thing is the companionship of my wife, as well as the rest of the family and friends.
Thanksgiving comes easy from a grateful heart. As the writer in Psalms 107 said, O that men (people) would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men, I have gathered the list as food for my soul and accepted the comfort of the experiences as profitable lessons for my growth and for my seed planting ministry. I am a firm believer that God has kept me throughout my life, because I have been thankful everyday and that I tell him so.
Thanksgiving is one of those positive attributes that come from God’s spirit like compassion, caring, empathy, loving our neighbor as ourselves, sowing seeds of peace, love and joy and most of all, choosing to be obedient unto all of God’s will for us. Some things, some do not realize what they were doing, was God’s will. There are many aspects of a human animal that were instilled into the creature when God created them. These aspects, when used properly are done with God’s will and pleasure. For one thing, God created humans to live, so he created oxygen in the air we breathe. He put a source to create oxygen in the air we breathe, which was living vegetation. Then he made it possible for people to breathe whether they are awake or asleep. I am surely grateful for that.
But there are many things that mankind gets to experience, that they call luck or karma, which are the mercy and grace of God. Some people call this a guardian angel, which is alright to say if a person is serious about the message behind it. The consequence of the occasion should be a message from God that says, I saved you from calamity, or danger, so learn from your mistakes. Then, if we thank Him for his mercy and grace, we will reap another moment of light and peace.
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”. (2 Thessalonians 5:18)
I thank God for his inspirations and words that I share with you and I thank you for reading this one small seed of His love that he has given unto me to share with you. May God bless you.
Your friend in Christ,
